darn cows

Well learning the farming life is funny at times...  So his brother has four  Steer calves that  hubby and I have been trying to ween.  The other day we caught  them they got out, tried again  caught 3  by morning  they were gone.  So  I told hubby that we need to lock them in the barn lot  yeah we might have to grain them but it would be more secure.   So  yesterday  we called all the cows up  caught all 4 steers as them have been avoiding us and even the crazy cow that really needs to go as she can not be trusted.   So with Little one on my back  hubby down working the gates  I sort through the cows trying to keep all the steers in the upper lot while pushing the other cows down so hubby can turn them out into the field.   Well we did it.  We even oddly got all the cows in another field  however  this morning  the cows were by the barn.  They broke a section of fence and no clue where the other section they went through.  So that is our day...  opps more to add

The cows are out  our neighbor just stopped to tell us.  So hubby and his brother are fixing fence  lol the small joys






So last time  the other day  I made  2 cakes and  74 cupcakes for the school.  Here they all are I am never working or making Marshmallow fondant again.   Then there was canning pears  into  slices, pear butter and honey

Well even if our blackberries are not doing much yet there are a few wild ones that are just as good. Not much going on here other then trying to keep caught up. Why is it you need a vacation from a vacation? Since we have not shopped since we have been back Monday will be a long day as it  DR apt for little one and then grocery shopping ugggg.  I have not seen my fridge and cupboard as bare since we have moved.  Thank goodness for the garden with the cukes and tomatoes  they are a tasty snack and the freezer full of beef. Been out weeding things  grass sure grows high  with 5 inch of rain over 4 days.  We mowed  and when we got back you could not even tell. Days like today ...

Never forget critters have a mind of their own.   To bad you can't train them to come when they have medical issues.  But enough of that... The owner will have to figure out to do it.  We tried  many ways and said screw it.  Today was a day where we got up early.  At four am  Little One had uncovered himself and got cold and just  wanted to snuggle with Mommy.  This is better then getting up 3-4 times a night and I am not going to complain as he is growing up way to fast.  Then came time for Kiddo to get up where she had a melt down cause the night before she stepped in dog poop and it was on the bottom of her shoe and she demanded that hubby or I clean it for her. So then the water works and fit started but ended quickly.  After the Bus showed up we grabbed some breakfast then headed out to water our gardens and trees.  Then we had lunch and checked the cows. Wow, this year is flying by...  So to catch you all up since I am 2 years behind on this.  So first off the kids are a freshman and a pre-K'er.  We have adopted a kitten that was dumped around our house. She is quite the little troublemaker/spitfire but so loveable and wants to be loved on.   It's calving season.  Now on top of all that we just bought 10 acres of land with a house that sat in the middle of our farm.  The house needs lots of work from not being shut up properly for 2 years.  I started a page to show the slow transformation of the place.  But that is where we are.  Both kids are loving school.  Kiddo is in Thespian and art clubs and I must say we are so proud of her.  The only freshmen in the math class of  Jr's and Sophomores also she is in Honors English and History.  Straight A's for our girl so far.  Little One loves school, all the ladies get a kick out of him as he does this thing where he raises his eyebrows its a riot.  But he is such a gentleman
