Our Farm

Well its been quite the 2 weeks here with heat index 102-105. Really don't want to get out and do much unless its middle of night but then its still in the 80's. Everything is going good here. Kiddo is up at her Aunt's with her cousins for a week or 2.  Little one is into and exploring everything. Our plants outside are doing great except a few due to Squash bugs but I found out that dish soap and water kill them so Kiddo and I picked the large ones off the plants that we found and dropped them into the mix and then the little ones were on the stalks of my zucchini plants and I sprayed them and they dropped like flies now if my plants live it will be a success. Farm life is hard  even though it was not our calf the last one born didn't make it. Not sure if it was the weather, a birth defect or that it didn't get the colostrum from the cow but it lived for about a week and then passed. Woke up this morning to find our Kiddo's dog had passed away. She was a great dog and had a very adventurous life.   On to happier news  the last cow in the bro in laws herd calved not sure what it is yet but Sunday was not letting us get to close. Its been raining here all week and shows it for for the rest of the week.  The Garden is doing great lots of tomatoes and cucumbers. thirsty hot cows  acting silly Kids Precious Midnight Midnight and little one tuckered out the new calf Storm rolling in

Well I know  I have not posted if a few since Montana but things here are just slow.  Lets see first off we tried to ear tag the cattle with fly tags how ever got only 2 of Hubby's brothers herd (damn horned cattle uggg)  Issues  with the chute and horns.  However we were lucky and got our 4 to run through and got tags and the fly tags in.   July 1st  Little One got bite by a wasp on his cheek that was scary for awhile.  Yesterday was the 4th and we went to supper at hubby's brothers house and  then went to see the fireworks.  Was not impressed as we got to see maybe 20 of them over the trees. Next year we will know better.   Today  is/was my birthday and I stuck around the house.  We had lunch then went to the lake for fun however the lake was up so there was no playing in the water or at the playground so we came home.  Kiddo and I went down to the creek and caught some crawdads and had science lessons.  She made my heart swell when she was pointing out places that were good
